I just downloaded 7zX, and I cannot get it to work. I am using a 20″ 1.25 GHz iMac G4 with 768 MB of RAM running OS 10.4.5. I tried double-clicking the app, nothing. I tried dragging and dropping a folder on the app, nothing. How does it work?
There appears to be a bug that prevents 7zX from working if the path to the application itself contains exotic characters, such as quotes, slashes, etc.
Try moving 7zX somewhere else and please tell me if that solved your problem.
Nice little app! Compresses most of my files to about 40% vs. 50-60% with ZIP. Could you add the option of not overwriting files automatically though? Maybe a dialog box asking you to choose a name, or an automatic naming scheme for files that already exist.
Could you make the ’safe archive’ a permanent preference, so it doesn’t have to be chosen each time? Fantastic compression, just needs more developed interface.
TNX a lot.
No problem!

I don’t think it should overwrite files! It simply skips them.
i downloaded the dmg from versiontracker.com and installed but when i did a “get info” it says i’m using version 1.1?
i’m thinking this is a mere typo?
Oops, right!

thank you
It would require a major interface overhaul. I’m still studying what the best way to do this would be.
