Away from Mac.

Posted on Friday 28 July 2006

Once again, I’m going on vacation. This year I will be visiting the Isola d’Elba (Italy).

This means that I won’t be able to access my Mac for about two weeks. You shouldn’t expect new releases of 7zX, and I won’t be able to provide instant replies to any support requests.

Unlike the past years, I will be carrying with me a HP Compaq nx9010 (ach!) with Windows XP Professional and various Service Packs (ach!!), so you may be able to hear something from me after all.

    I’m sure it’s possible even with Windows… ;-)

I hope you enjoy your vacation. I am looking forward to your next update. Please explain something for me……once I have compressed and encrypted a file, folder……do I need to keep the original item around?

I hesitate trashing them because there have been times when I have password protected my material and had them encrypted only to find that when I tried to decompress them, I would receive an intercept stating that the file could not be opened. I am using 7zX.1.4.2 r 2.
